Triple A Run/Walk Corporate Sponsor Information
Allergies, asthma and anaphylaxis affect 12 million Canadians. In fact almost one in three children and adults are prevented from living life to the fullest due to allergic conditions. You can help them live without worrying about their next breath or meal. Your support for the Triple A Run/Walk makes it possible to help those suffering from allergy, asthma and anaphylaxis live a life without limits.
The AAIA: Awareness, Avoidance, Action
Founded in 1964 by a group of parents with children with severe allergies, the AAIA supports research and offers a range of educational programs. As a not-for-profit organization, our goal is to improve the quality of life for all Canadians affected by allergy, asthma or anaphylaxis. Food allergies and asthma greatly affect the quality of life for thousands of children and adults and can be life-threatening. There is no cure; avoidance of triggers and preventative strategies are the key to good health.
In the past five years the AAIA has provided over $200,000 to the Canadian Allergy, Asthma and Immunology Foundation to fund research. During that time, we have had to meet the increasing demand from patients and the public for information and education about allergic conditions. The AIAA web site, publications and newsletters provide essential information in English and French for patients, families, schools and the public. Our regional coordinators and network of volunteers serve Canadians in all provinces and territories.
2010 Triple A Run/Walk
For the 6th year running, AAIA will be holding the Triple A Run/Walk during May, Allergy Awareness Month. And it promises to be our biggest event ever. What started with a single run in Whitby, Ontario has now grown to a fun-filled family event in 5 cities and counting. This year the Run/Walk will be held in Whitby ON, Windsor ON, Ottawa ON, Bedford NS and Kelowna BC. Thanks to our lead sponsor King Pharmaceuticals, we are well on our way to becoming a truly national event.
Held during Allergy Awareness Month in May, the Triple A Run/Walk seeks to create awareness and fund allergy, asthma and anaphylaxis research and education. Last year, the event attracted over 800 participants and 200 volunteers and generated extensive local media coverage.
